Manufactured Homes Transition

House Bill 49, the Ohio Operating Budget, included a provision to consolidate several boards and commissions. Included in the bill was the migration of the Manufactured Homes Commission to the Ohio Department of Commerce, effective January 21, 2018.

The responsibilities of overseeing manufactured homes will be split between two Commerce divisions; the Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing, and the Division of Industrial Compliance.

Commerce is well-positioned to work with the manufactured homes industry, as many agency operations involve residential and commercial construction. The department licenses a number of industries including commercial contractors, real estate professionals, investment professionals and mortgage brokers. Commerce is also responsible for inspecting electrical systems, reviewing building plans, resolving disputes and much more.

The department will work with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition. This website will be updated with new information as it becomes available.
